This year, Daria Kaplunenko, IPK’s Managing Partner and Patent Attorney, joined the international association ECTA and represented our company and the Ukrainian community at the ECTA Annual Conference in Prague, Czech Republic in June 2023.

What is ECTA?
With more than 1500 members from all EU member states and beyond, ECTA promotes the knowledge and professionalism of the intellectual property community in the field of trademarks, industrial designs, copyright and other intellectual property rights within the European Union.

How long was the conference and what did you like the most?
The conference lasted 3 days. I really liked the cosy and comfortable format of the event, which combined numerous interesting interactive training sessions, workshops, case law reviews, European law cases on the most relevant topics, as well as the opportunity to attend informal meetings over a cup of coffee and evenings in the charming Prague atmosphere. The general difference between ECTA and the INTA conference, which also took place this year, but in a different country – Singapore, is that it is attended by more professionals who practice in EU.
What was our mission?
It was another opportunity to tell about Ukraine at the booth of our NAPA Association. At that time, we had been defending our statehood for more than 500 days of war, continued to work and were happy to become part of the global IP community. It was nice to see how our international colleagues love the blue and yellow colours.
This was another proof for us that all borders are only in our heads: any journey is possible if you want it and plan it! We look forward to seeing old friends and new colleagues again.
IP is the Key!
